Dehradun: Officer cadets from the Indian Military Academy visited the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy as part of an exposure programme aimed at enhancing inter-institutional learning and coordination between the Army and the Forest Department.

Over 400 cadets, led by Major Sumit Saurav, attended the session at IGNFA’s Hari Singh Auditorium. The programme began with a welcome address by Senior Consultant S.R. Reddy, followed by an inaugural speech by Additional Director Raj Kumar Bajpai (IFS).

The highlight was a keynote lecture by senior IFS officer Jigmet Takpa, who spoke on forest governance, challenges of forest management in military areas, and the importance of coordination between the armed forces and forest authorities.

The visit provided future military leaders with valuable insights into the role of forest management in environmentally sensitive and strategic regions.
