The sports infrastructure in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, is reaching new heights, positioning the city as a potential hub for major international sporting events. On Friday, Sports Minister Rekha Arya inaugurated the 38th National Games Handball Championship and hinted that if India secures the bid to host the 2036 Olympics, Rudrapur will be a strong contender for hosting Olympic events.

During the inauguration ceremony held at the newly constructed Shivalik Hall within the Manoj Sarkar Sports Stadium, the Sports Minister highlighted that hosting the National Games has led to the development of a cycling track, velodrome, multipurpose hall, and an advanced shotgun shooting range in Rudrapur. This infrastructure will play a crucial role in grooming future Olympic-level athletes.

Rekha Arya stated, "This hall will witness many major competitions. If athletes break any national records during this championship, it will serve as the most fitting inauguration for this multipurpose hall."

With the rapid development of sports infrastructure in Rudrapur, the city is poised to become a key venue for national and international sporting events in the coming years.
