Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Traffic Directorate will launch a 15-day special drive from April 20 against the illegal use of sirens, hooters, and multi-colored flashing lights on private vehicles.

IG Traffic and Director Nivedita Kukreti has directed all districts to enforce the अभियान strictly. As per state and transport department notifications, the use of unauthorized flashers, red-blue lights, and sirens on private or non-government vehicles is completely banned.

Only emergency services such as ambulances, fire brigade, and police are permitted to use such equipment. During the drive, illegal lights will be removed on the spot and violators will be fined.

The move aims to curb VIP culture and ensure safer, more disciplined traffic on roads.
