NITI Aayog, in collaboration with G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Almora, and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development, organized a one-day workshop on ‘Springshed Management and Climate Adaptation: Strategies for Sustainable Development in the Indian Himalayan Region’. On this occasion, Prof. Annapurna Nautiyal’s book, ‘Indian Himalayan Region: Towards a Sustainable Future’, was released.

Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that this workshop would aid in the conservation of water sources and tackling climate change challenges. He highlighted that the state government is prioritizing springshed management and climate conservation. Under the ‘Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority’, efforts are being made to revive 5,500 water sources and 292 tributaries.

Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Shri Suman K. Bery, stressed the need to revitalize Himalayan villages and create employment opportunities, emphasizing the expansion of broadband services and internet connectivity. Irrigation Minister Shri Satpal Maharaj urged collective efforts for water conservation.

Experts at the workshop held in-depth discussions on the sustainable development of the Himalayan region and the conservation of its natural water sources.
