If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar card in the last 10 years, this news is important for you. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is urging Aadhaar cardholders to update their details from time to time. Failing to do so may result in your Aadhaar being deactivated or canceled, making it difficult to avail of government and private services.

UIDAI conducts verification of Aadhaar cards every 8-10 years. If an Aadhaar card has not been updated for a long time, it may be considered suspicious and deactivated. Once deactivated, it can only be reactivated by visiting UIDAI’s headquarters in Delhi, as local Aadhaar service centers do not have the authority to reactivate it.

Uploading a photo ID proof is mandatory, and you can use a PAN card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License as valid documents. Additionally, biometric and iris scans must also be updated, especially for senior citizens, as fingerprints and iris patterns may change over time, leading to verification issues.

To update your Aadhaar, visit the nearest Aadhaar service center, submit the necessary documents, and get your biometrics and photo updated. Alternatively, you can also update your details online via UIDAI’s official website.
