Dehradun: During the sacred Char Dham Yatra, thousands of devotees book helicopter tickets online to visit Shri Kedarnath Dham. Unfortunately, cybercriminals exploit this faith by creating fake websites, social media pages, and advertisements to scam people. In response, the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttarakhand Police has taken strong action under the direction of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami and the guidance of DGP Shri Dipam Seth.

Key Actions Taken in 2025 So Far:

51 fake websites/URLs blocked

111 fraudulent mobile numbers deactivated

56 bank accounts frozen

30 WhatsApp numbers reported and blocked


These actions have prevented hundreds of devotees from falling victim to fraud. The operation is being carried out with the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs` I4C (Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre).

Focus on Meta Platforms

DIG Law & Order Shri Dhirendra Gunjyal has been designated as the Nodal Officer for Meta platforms. Through his efforts, numerous fake pages and misleading advertisements related to helicopter bookings on Facebook and Instagram are being identified and removed.

After successful coordination with Google last year to restrict misleading ads for “Kedarnath Helicopter Booking,” similar policy enforcement is now being pursued with Meta to limit fake content on its platforms.
