Dehradun: Principals of government colleges in Uttarakhand will now be trained in leadership and management skills. Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Higher Education Department and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur, principals from across the state will be trained in batches. The first session of this initiative, titled ‘Nurturing Future Leadership Programme’, will be conducted from July 21 to 25, with 40 principals participating.

The state’s Higher Education Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, informed that this training programme is being organized under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP) run by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The training will cover key topics such as leadership skills, strategic thinking, effective decision-making, efficient management, inter-functional coordination, and academic insight.

Dr. Rawat stated that the objective of this initiative is to enhance academic quality, administrative efficiency, and create a positive academic environment in government colleges. After completing the training, the principals will be equipped to lead their institutions with renewed energy and direction.

The Minister also instructed participating principals to complete their registration process promptly. He added that similar training batches will be conducted periodically so that all government colleges can benefit from the initiative.
