Rural Growth in Uttarakhand Driven by ₹6,950 Crore Loans
Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Cooperation Department has been pivotal in strengthening the rural economy and empowering farmers, women, and youth. Over 25 years, schemes like Ghassari Kalyan Yojana and Madho Singh Bhandari Collective Farming have turned cooperation into a people’s movement.
Under the Deendayal Upadhyay Cooperative Kisan Kalyan Yojana, over 11 lakh beneficiaries and 6,400 SHGs have received ₹6,957 crore in interest-free loans. All 670 PACS in the state are now fully digitized, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
Women hold 33% reservation in cooperative bodies, and NPAs in cooperative banks have dropped sharply from ₹48 crore to ₹6.9 crore.
Cooperation Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said the government is developing cooperatives as a mass movement to achieve the vision of a self-reliant Uttarakhand.
