Dehradun: Uttarakhand has achieved a major milestone in renewable energy by surpassing 1 gigawatt (1,000 MW) of installed solar power capacity. As per official data, the state’s total solar installation has reached 1,027.87 MW, reflecting its strong commitment to clean energy.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami termed the achievement historic and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting green energy and Atmanirbhar Bharat. He said coordinated central and state efforts have created new self-employment opportunities for youth and entrepreneurs.

Solar Push Expands Across the State

The milestone has been supported by the Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) through project implementation and awareness drives, especially in remote and hilly areas.

Officials said supportive policies, subsidies, and simplified approvals have accelerated solar adoption. The government has now set higher targets to further expand solar capacity and strengthen energy security in the state.
