Uttarakhand STF Busts ₹1.17 Crore Fake Investment App Scam

Dehradun: The Cyber Crime Team of Uttarakhand STF has uncovered a major online investment scam and arrested one Accused from Ambala, Haryana.

According to SSP Ajay Singh, a Dehradun resident was contacted via WhatsApp by fraudsters posing as financial advisors of a reputed firm. The victim was added to a VIP group and asked to download a fake app, “ASKICPRO,” for stock market investment. He was later duped of ₹1.17 crore through multiple bank transfers.

Investigation of bank accounts and digital evidence led to the arrest of Baljeet Singh from Ambala. Police said large transactions were traced to his accounts, and he is linked to similar cases in other states.

STF has advised people to stay alert against fake investment offers, suspicious apps, and promises of high returns. Complaints can be reported at helpline 1930 or the National Cyber Crime Portal.
