A tunnel under construction in Uttarkashi, in Uttarakhand, collapsed, trapping around 36 people inside. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) acted swiftly upon receiving the news, sending rescue teams with necessary equipment to the site, where they worked alongside other rescue units.

The tunnel is part of the project connecting Silkyara to Dandalgaon in Uttarkashi. The District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Uttarkashi reached the scene promptly. SDRF, Police, and Revenue teams are all actively engaged in relief efforts.

Uttarkashi`s SP, Arpan Yaduvanshi, reported that a section of the tunnel, located about 200 meters from the entrance, had collapsed. Approximately 36 people were trapped inside, and a joint effort involving the police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and SDRF was underway to rescue them safely. Fortunately, no casualties had been reported at that point.

The DM, Abhishek Ruhela, emphasized that the top priority was the safe rescue of the trapped workers. Relief and rescue operations were being conducted in cooperation with various agencies and organizations. The district`s officers had canceled their leaves and were mobilized for relief and rescue efforts.

Uttarakhand`s Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, stayed in constant contact with officials and offered prayers for the safe return of all those involved in the incident.
