Chief Secretary Prioritizes Oxygen Availability On Yatra Route
With the aim of maximizing the use of the large number of oxygen plants installed during the COVID-19 period and ensuring a safe Chardham Yatra and tourism experience in the state, Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi has directed the Medical, Health, and Family Welfare Department to ensure an adequate number of oxygen concentrators at all high-altitude pilgrimage sites, tourist locations, hotels, and dharamshalas, including Adi Kailash and Kedarnath. As part of an initiative to reduce the maternal mortality rate in the state, the Chief Secretary has also instructed the immediate commencement of a pilot project in Haridwar. Additionally, she has mandated that maternal death audits be made compulsory to further reduce the maternal mortality rate and improve coordination between the Health Department and the National Health Mission (NHM).
To meet the goal of making Uttarakhand TB-free by 2025, the Chief Secretary directed the identification of TB-prone areas and the launch of special campaigns in those regions.
While chairing the 12th Governing Body meeting of the Uttarakhand Health and Family Welfare Committee at the Secretariat, Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi emphasized that priority should be given to improving medical services and human resources, rather than focusing solely on building infrastructure within the health sector. She also stressed the importance of increasing health literacy at the grassroots level across the state.
In today’s meeting, Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi approved a proposal for the rationalization of honorariums for personnel working under the National Health Mission Uttarakhand. Furthermore, she granted financial approvals for several projects, including the installation of a central oxygen pipeline and manifold systems, the establishment of oxygen plants at Community Health Centres in Salt and Chaukhutia, and the construction of oxygen plant sheds at Community Health Centres in Sahaspur and Doiwala.
