District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal, while presiding over the District Forest Fire Safety Committee meeting at Rishiparna Auditorium, directed the reorganization of all 275 forest councils in the district by February 20. He appointed Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gaurav Chatwal as the nodal officer and emphasized providing financial support to the councils along with launching public awareness programs.

The DM instructed the Revenue and Forest Departments to work in coordination during the fire season and activate a 24x7 disaster control room from February 15. He highlighted the use of the "Forest Fire Uttarakhand" mobile app, which allows locals to report forest fire incidents promptly.

Environmentalist Vinod Prasad Juglan suggested verification of outsiders living near forest areas, while Padma Shri Dr. Kalyan Singh Rawat stressed the need for training and awareness programs at the village and school levels. The DM called for fostering a sense of responsibility among locals and ensuring active participation of forest councils in fire prevention efforts.
