Mastermind Behind Uttarakhand MLA Fraud Arrested in Delhi

In a major breakthrough, Uttarakhand Police has arrested the third and main accused, Gauravanath, from Delhi in a high-profile fraud case. The gang was impersonating Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s son, Jay Shah, and calling BJP MLAs, offering them ministerial positions in exchange for ₹3 crore.

The case came to light when Shiv Arora, BJP MLA from Rudrapur, received a suspicious call on February 13. The caller, pretending to be Jay Shah, claimed that Arora’s name was on the list for an upcoming cabinet expansion. Similar calls were also made to Rani Pur MLA Aadesh Chauhan and Nainital MLA Sarita Arya. Arora’s aide, Abhishek Mishra, filed a police complaint on February 16, leading to an investigation.

The police identified three suspects—Uvaish, Priyanshu Pant, and Gauravanath. While Uvaish and Priyanshu were already arrested, Gauravanath was caught near Karkardooma Court in Delhi. The investigation revealed that the gang used Wikipedia and other sources to gather information about MLAs before executing their fraud scheme.
