To mark World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, a special awareness program was organized today in Dehradun by the District Health Department in collaboration with various NGOs and local health authorities. The event took place at the District Hospital auditorium, drawing participation from healthcare workers, students, and community members.

The program was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer Dr. BC Ramola, who emphasized the importance of early detection and consistent treatment in eradicating TB. “Tuberculosis is preventable and curable, and with community support and awareness, we can achieve a TB-free Uttarakhand,” said Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat.

Highlights of the event included health talks, free TB screening camps, interactive sessions on myths and facts about TB, and distribution of IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials. Several TB survivors also shared their inspirational stories, encouraging others to complete their treatment without stigma.

Special emphasis was laid on the government`s ongoing Nikshay Poshan Yojana, which provides nutritional support to TB patients, and the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The program concluded with a pledge by attendees to spread awareness and support TB elimination efforts in their communities
