The city`s door-to-door waste collection system is set for a major change. The municipal corporation has decided to remove Econ Waste Management Company due to its poor service. According to the corporation, waste collection in the 26 wards assigned to the company has been highly irregular, causing significant inconvenience to residents.

Several complaints were lodged against Econ Waste Management Company. Investigations revealed irregularities in the tender process and inconsistencies in waste collection. The company was found guilty of tender fraud and operating based on forged documents. As a result, the decision to remove the company has been finalized.

The municipal corporation is already managing waste collection in 47 wards. Now, it plans to take over an additional 26 wards, making a total of 73 wards under its direct management.

Shockingly, even in the residence area of Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, Mohkampur, and nearby wards, the waste collection system was in disarray. Residents complained that waste collection vehicles had not arrived for weeks.

The municipal corporation is now planning to issue a new tender to assign the work to competent companies. Additionally, it aims to strengthen its own sanitation system by acquiring new resources.

With the corporation now actively addressing the issue, significant improvements in Dehradun’s waste management system can be expected in the near future.
