Cooperatives Can Transform Himalayan States: Dr. Rawat
Shimla/Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s Cooperative Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said cooperatives can change the fate of Himalayan states. Speaking at the National Cooperative Conference in Shimla, he announced that Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh will work together on business innovations in cooperative banks.
He noted that under the vision of “Prosperity through Cooperation”, the Uttarakhand government has provided ₹6,812 crore in interest-free loans to over 1.1 million farmers and 6,251 self-help groups, while women enjoy 33% reservation in cooperatives.
Dr. Rawat added that schemes like the Ghasyari Kalyan Yojana, Collective Farming Scheme, and Millet Mission are benefiting farmers and women, while initiatives like “Doon Silk” are boosting the rural economy. Statewide cooperative fairs will also be held from October to December.
The event was attended by representatives of RBI, NABARD, Amul, IFFCO, NAFED, and other institutions.
