STF Nabs African Nationals in ₹89 Lakh Parcel Fraud

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand STF Cyber Crime team has arrested three citizens from Ghana and Uganda in Punjab, exposing a multi-crore parcel fraud racket. The accused created fake Facebook profiles, lured victims with promises of an international herbal seeds business deal, and cheated a Dehradun resident of over ₹89 lakh within just 15 days.

They used fake customs/logistics agents, parcel-tracking websites, and even posed as “cyber security officers” to extort money. Investigation revealed transactions worth crores and multiple cases registered against them in other states.

STF recovered mobile phones, laptops, a passport, and suspicious documents. Police have appealed to the public to beware of fake investment offers, online friendships, and scams, and to immediately report cyber frauds by calling helpline 1930.
