New Delhi/Pune: The CBI has achieved a major breakthrough in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case by arresting the alleged mastermind, Professor PV Kulkarni, from his residence in Pune. Kulkarni, a chemistry expert from Latur, was reportedly part of the committee responsible for preparing NEET question papers for several years.

According to officials, he allegedly used his access to the papers to conduct special coaching sessions at his home, where students were dictated questions, options, and correct answers before the exam. Investigators found that the handwritten questions matched the actual NEET-UG 2026 exam paper held on May 3.

The CBI said Kulkarni, along with accused Manisha Waghmare, organized students during the last week of April. Waghmare had already been arrested on May 14.

The agency has also conducted raids across multiple locations, seizing important documents, mobile phones, and electronic devices for forensic examination. So far, seven accused have been arrested from Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, and Ahilyanagar, with five sent to seven days of police remand.
