Dehradun: Following the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) “Operation RAGEPILL,” Uttarakhand’s Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) has gone on alert. In the operation, agencies seized banned synthetic drug “Captagon” worth nearly ₹182 crore and arrested two people, including a foreign national.

After media reports linked a unit named “Green Herbals” in Sahaspur, Dehradun, the FDA clarified that the facility was not registered with the department. Officials said the unit had neither a manufacturing license under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act nor approval under FSSAI regulations.

The FDA stated that Captagon is a prohibited psychotropic substance regulated under the NDPS Act and does not come under its jurisdiction. Authorities added that monitoring of illegal and unlicensed units across the state has been intensified.

Initial investigations suggest the seized consignment was allegedly meant for West Asia. FDA Additional Commissioner Tajbar Singh Jaggi said action against unauthorized units will continue in coordination with local administration and central agencies.
