Dehradun: Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav on Saturday presided over the convocation ceremony of the 2024 batch of Indian Forest Service (IFS) probationers at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) in Dehradun.

A total of 111 officers, including 109 IFS probationers and two trainees from Bhutan, completed the 20-month training programme, with Pratiksha Nanasaheb Kale of the Rajasthan Cadre emerging as the batch topper.

Yadav said the young officers would play a key role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and urged them to tackle challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and desertification through innovation, technology and public participation. He emphasized that ethics, efficiency and compassion define a successful public servant, adding that "a good officer is first and foremost a good human being."

IGNFA Director Dr. Rajendra Prasad Khajuria said the Academy`s training emphasized forestry, wildlife management, environmental governance, leadership development and extensive field exposure to prepare officers for future challenges.
