From Students to Startup Stars: Devbhoomi Lights the Way

Dehradun: The Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Scheme, launched by the Government of Uttarakhand in 2023, is rapidly transforming the state`s youth into self-reliant entrepreneurs. So far, over 26,247 students from government colleges and universities have registered under the scheme, and 965 have successfully launched their own startups.

Designed in line with the New Education Policy-2020, the scheme has established entrepreneurship centres in 124 higher education institutions. These centres provide skill training, mentorship, and seed funding to help students bring their business ideas to life.

Of the startups launched, 303 are generating solid profits, and 25 products are now listed on platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Meesho. Additionally, 60 food-based ventures have received FSSAI licenses, and more are in progress.

Each year, 20 students receive ₹75,000 in seed funding for innovation-based business ideas. Over 1,132 students have created official enterprise identities so far.

Training That Builds Entrepreneurs
More than 14,000 students have attended boot camps, and nearly 9,000 have completed 12-day entrepreneurship development programs, learning essential skills in business planning, marketing, and financial management.

Inspiring Story: Herbal Heart
Deepak Singh Negi from Almora launched ‘Herbal Heart’, a ready-to-drink juice brand using local fruits. With support from the scheme, his business is now thriving and employs three more youth.

Minister’s Remarks
"This scheme is helping our youth become job creators, not job seekers. With the right support, they’re building a new identity for Uttarakhand on the global stage," said Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Higher Education Minister, Uttarakhand.
