Dehradun: A horrific road accident took place early Sunday morning at the Asharodi checkpost on the Dehradun-Saharanpur road, claiming the lives of four individuals and leaving one seriously injured. The victims were travelling in a Ritz car registered in Haryana, which rammed into a trailer truck from behind.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 3:15 AM. A trailer heading from Saharanpur to Dehradun suddenly applied brakes near the Asharodi checkpost. The car following it failed to stop in time and crashed into the rear of the trailer, becoming severely mangled.

Emergency services rushed to the scene. While three injured passengers seated in the back were pulled out and taken to Coronation Hospital, the two individuals in the front seats were trapped inside the wreckage. Fire department personnel had to use hydraulic cutters to open the vehicle’s front doors. Tragically, all four were declared dead by the time they reached the hospital.

Station in-charge of Clement Town, Mohan Singh, confirmed that the deceased are from Haryana. Efforts are underway to identify them and contact their families.

Notably, this is not the first accident at Asharodi checkpost in recent times. A few days ago, a similar collision occurred at the same spot when a truck hit a car from behind due to brake failure.
