Kichha: heart-wrenching accident on Wednesday morning in Uttarakhand`s Kichha area, four members of a family lost their lives, including a four-day-old newborn, his father, grandmother, and uncle. Three others sustained serious injuries and are currently being treated at Sushila Tiwari Hospital (STH) in Haldwani.

According to reports, a woman from Bara village in Kichha had been admitted to STH four days ago due to labor pains, where she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. On Wednesday morning, the family was returning home with the mother and newborn after discharge from the hospital. As the car reached a turn near the Forest Department area, the driver lost control of the vehicle, and it plunged into a canal.

Fire and police teams reached the spot promptly and launched a rescue operation to pull the passengers out of the submerged vehicle. Unfortunately, the newborn, his father, grandmother, and uncle had already died. The mother, driver, and another family member are critically injured.

The tragic loss of four members from a single family has left the entire village in mourning. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
