New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case in connection with the alleged paper leak and irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination. The action was taken based on a written complaint received from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The FIR has been registered under charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, theft, and destruction of evidence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Public Examination Prevention of Unfair Means Act, 2024.

According to the complaint, the NEET-UG 2026 examination was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 3, 2026. It was alleged that certain documents related to the examination were circulated unauthorizedly before the exam was held.

The CBI said the allegations point to a possible compromise of the sanctity and integrity of the examination process. Special CBI teams have been formed and dispatched to multiple locations to carry out a comprehensive investigation. The agency stated that efforts are underway to identify all individuals and entities involved in the case.
