Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday handed over appointment letters to 220 newly appointed medical officers during the Uttarakhand Medical Health Empowerment Campaign held at Chief Sevak Sadan.

Congratulating the recruits, CM Dhami called them “health sentinels of Devbhoomi” and urged them to serve with compassion, humility, and dedication. Quoting poet Gumani Pant, he reminded doctors of their responsibility to heal society with both skill and humane behavior.

The CM highlighted state initiatives including ₹21 crore worth of cashless treatment for over 11 lakh patients, advanced cardiology and neurology facilities in Srinagar, cancer care in Haldwani, and emergency medical support through helicopters in remote disaster-hit areas. He added that free health checkups, modernized health centers, paramedical recruitments, and telemedicine expansion are strengthening Uttarakhand’s healthcare. The government is also working to set up one medical college in every district.

Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that except for four selected under the differently-abled quota, all new doctors will be posted in remote areas. He also announced upcoming recruitments of more doctors, nurses, and staff, along with a statewide blood donation drive from September 17 to October 2 benefiting over 25 lakh people.

Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi said improved staff availability will motivate doctors to serve in remote regions and urged them to continue strengthening public trust.
