Dehradun: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said that Uttarakhand has been allocated ₹4,769 crore in the Railway Budget 2026–27, which is 26 times higher than the allocation during 2009–14. He addressed journalists through a virtual press conference organised by PIB Dehradun.

The minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Finance Minister for the record capital outlay of ₹2.93 lakh crore for Railways, adding that Uttarakhand will be a major beneficiary.

He informed that railway projects worth ₹39,491 crore are currently underway in the state, covering track construction, station redevelopment and safety works. Eleven stations have been selected for redevelopment under the Amrit Station Scheme with an investment of ₹147 crore.

Uttarakhand now has three Vande Bharat Express and one Amrit Bharat Express service. The state has achieved 100% electrification, with 334 km of lines electrified and 76 km of new track laid since 2014. So far, 106 flyovers and underpasses have been built and 54 Kavach safety systems approved.

Vaishnaw also said that the Rishikesh–Karnprayag rail project is progressing rapidly and is nearing its inauguration phase.
