Income Tax Department Advances to Semifinals with in Uttarakhand Premier League


Dehradun, Two thrilling matches were held on the fifth day of the Uttarakhand Health Premier League cricket tournament. In the first match, the Income Tax Department defeated SIDCUL to secure a spot in the semifinals. The team’s exceptional performance was driven by the theme of "Tuberculosis Eradication – TB Will Lose, the Nation Will Win."

In the second match, the Health Department (DoH) triumphed over PWD, promoting awareness about tobacco control under the theme "Choose Life, Not Tobacco." Both teams emphasized not only the sport but also important social messages.

Income Tax Department Reaches Semifinals

SIDCUL batted first but struggled, managing only 79 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Although they started cautiously, wickets kept falling, and they couldn’t build a strong total. The disciplined bowling of the Income Tax Department restricted the scoring, with Lokesh Nautiyal being named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance with the ball.

While chasing the modest target of 80, the Income Tax team began aggressively but lost a few early wickets. However, the team remained composed and steadily accumulated runs, ultimately winning the match by 4 wickets to secure their place in the semifinals.

The match, played under the theme of "TB Eradication – TB Will Lose, the Nation Will Win," aimed to raise awareness about tuberculosis. The event highlighted the importance of early diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of TB. Through the game, the Income Tax Department sought to convey that while TB is a serious issue, it can be effectively controlled with the right information and medical care.

Players and spectators were also educated about TB symptoms, causes, and treatment options. The core message emphasized that TB can be cured if detected early, fostering a spirit of unity and collective effort under the slogan "TB Will Lose, the Nation Will Win."

Health Department Defeats PWD

In the final league match, the Health Department set a challenging target for PWD. Playing under the theme "Waterborne Diseases – Uttarakhand Is Ready to Defeat Dengue," the DoH posted 175 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Manmeet Singh`s explosive innings of 64 runs off 48 balls earned him the Player of the Match title.

PWD, playing with the theme "Healthy Mind, Healthy Thoughts, Better Health," struggled in response and managed only 128 runs. Abhishek was the top scorer with 28 runs.

During the match, awareness was raised about waterborne diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. The theme emphasized the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures for these diseases, which are primarily spread through mosquito bites. It highlighted the importance of water management, keeping areas clean, and adopting personal safety measures to prevent mosquito breeding.

The match also promoted community participation in disease prevention. Spectators were encouraged to maintain cleanliness and prevent water stagnation in their surroundings to curb mosquito breeding.
