Govt Assurance Halts Doctors Protest in Uttarakhand

The PMHS (Provincial Medical Health Services) doctors, who had been protesting in support of their long-pending demands in Uttarakhand, have decided to suspend their agitation for one month following an assurance from the government. The decision came after a crucial meeting held on Tuesday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar.

Senior PMHS representatives Dr. Manoj Verma, Dr. Ramesh Kunwar, Dr. Tuhin Kumar, Dr. Ajit Mohan Johri, and Dr. Manish Kumar were present at the meeting, along with officials and staff of the health department. The discussions focused on three major demands of the doctors.

Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar assured the delegation that processes have already been initiated to fulfill two of the three demands within the next month. He also acknowledged that the third demand may take a bit more time but emphasized that sincere and positive efforts are underway on that front as well.

Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Manoj Verma said the Health Secretary`s approach was extremely cooperative and balanced, which gave the delegation confidence in the government`s commitment. Dr. Ramesh Kunwar added that in light of the government`s positive stance, PMHS has decided to suspend all protest activities, including wearing black ribbons, for the next month.

PMHS welcomed the government`s response and expressed hope that all demands would be met within the assured timeframe. The organization also appealed for continued coordination and cooperation between the health department and doctors in the future.
