Uttarakhand Launches Statewide Raids on Hazardous Cough Syrups

Dehradun: Under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Uttarakhand has launched a state-wide crackdown on banned cough syrups. FDA and Health Department teams are raiding medical stores, hospitals, and wholesalers.

The move follows child deaths linked to these syrups in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar urged doctors not to prescribe banned syrups and ordered lab testing of collected samples.

Syrups with Dextromethorphan and Chlorpheniramine + Phenylephrine are banned for children under four. Drug Controller Tajbar Singh Jaggi warned of strict legal action against violators.

CM Dhami said, “Children’s safety and public health are our top priority.”
