Uttarakhand Empowering Women 2025: A Movement of Change
Dehradun: Uttarakhand Empowering Women 2025, a landmark event held in Dehradun, brought together policymakers, educators, legal experts, and grassroots leaders to advance the cause of gender equality in the state. Organized by The Times of India, PRSI Dehradun Chapter, and The Loop Project, the event served as a vibrant platform for dialogue, inspiration, and action.
Ms Iva Srivastava, IAS, Director of the Census, Government of India, delivered the keynote, stating, “Empowerment begins with recognition — and recognition comes from visibility in data, decisions, and dialogue.” Her words set a powerful tone for the day.
Mr Ravi Bijania, President of PRSI Uttarakhand and Deputy Director of the Information Department, emphasized the role of media and civil society in amplifying women’s voices and building partnerships that drive real change.
Two Panels, One Mission
In the first panel, Breaking Barriers, Building Futures, Prof. Anita Rawat, Ms. Aparna Bahuguna, and Tanaya Ahluwalia Nath shared insights on institutional challenges and the need for inclusive development.
The second panel, Legal Pathways to Equality, explored women’s rights under the Uniform Civil Code, with inputs from Prof. Aabshar Abbasi and Advocate Pallavi Ghai.
Honoring Women Trailblazers
A special ceremony honored 12 inspiring women from diverse sectors for their contributions to Uttarakhand’s progress — from education and health to arts and entrepreneurship.
The evening concluded with a calming handpan meditation session by Dipesh Manral, offering space for reflection and renewal.
More than just an event, Uttarakhand Empowering Women 2025 marked a united movement toward a future that is inclusive, equitable, and women-led.
