STF Nabs Cyber Fraudster in ₹14.08 Lakh Scam

Dehradun: Uttarakhand STF Cyber Crime Police have arrested Hardik Kumar Bhagwanbhai Moradia (Surat, Gujarat), accused of defrauding ₹14,08,800 using a fake Google customer care number.

According to SSP Navneet Singh, the accused posed as a Punjab National Bank officer, gained victims’ trust, and sent links to register online complaints. Using WhatsApp, he collected banking details and OTPs, which he misused to transfer funds to various accounts.

The investigation, led by Sub-Inspector Mukesh Chandra and Inspector Vijay Bharti, involved continuous technical surveillance. The accused was presented in Dehradun court, and legal proceedings were initiated under relevant IPC sections.

STF has urged the public to stay alert against fake investment schemes, online job offers, and unknown customer care numbers. Personal or banking information should never be shared without verification. Cybercrime can be reported at 1930.
